OTHAKALMANDAPAM, MYLERIPALAYAM POST, COIMBATORE – 641 032.
1. The students will be made aware that application to study is an effective means of growth and personal improvement, which is important daily duty and professional work of each and every student.
2. The students will devote all their attention to the Philosophical and Theological courses, which will be the source of enrichment for their future ministry (OT, n.14).
3. Every student must strive his best to acquire a sound knowledge of the Bible, doctrines of the faith, moral principles, canonical legislation, catechetics, church history and liturgy, which will be of great help for him to be truly a spiritual guide for his contemporaries (Can. 252; OT, n. 16).
4. Every student must make good use of available time, intellectual dialogue, exchange of ideas and experiences. He must study systematically all the courses offered in the Seminary. He should acquire real competence in the various disciplines in order to be able to respond adequately to the demands of scientific, pastoral, ecumenical and missionary work, as well as to the demands of the particular service to which the students are called in the local church.
5. Every student will aim at getting at least the minimum knowledge of music, both Western and Indian, in order to be able to conduct the liturgical services with piety and decorum.
6. Every student must realize that the study he undertakes in the Seminary is not merely academic, cold rational exercise divorced from his deepest personal concerns and coherent life-style. Every student must therefore be a contemplative and a spiritual seeker.
7. The students will become more and more aware of the implications of the incarnation and of the “Kenosis” of Christ, so that they, as future priests, might evaluate their commitment and more clearly perceive the pattern of that glorious, but arduous discipleship, to which they have been called.
